Pete Fontana was named chief elf, Operations, Postal Holidays, in December 1995. As the Postal Holidays Chief Executive Officer, Fontana reports directly to Santa Claus and to Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe.
In this role, Fontana meticulously and passionately oversees the 101-year old Letters to Santa program that makes children’s wishes come true from coast to coast. Managing the busiest program affectionately known as “Operation Santa” from the iconic James A. Farley Post Office building in New York City, Fontana supervises a dedicated team of postal elves who work tirelessly to make this program an annual global success story.
Fontana is the spokes-elf-in-chief for the program and the Elf ambassador for other posts around the world.
Prior to this position, Fontana held many other postal-related positions, building his resume and skill set until he could assume the position that is so uniquely his.
Fontana holds a Bachelor of Science degree in fulfillment management and a Master of Arts degree in response administration from the North Pole University.
