In order to provide efficient and cost-effective mail delivery now and for the future, the U.S. Postal Service is creating a new 86005 Flagstaff ZIP Code area, effective July 1, 2013.
(Please see attached map for the new ZIP Code boundaries. The 86005 ZIP Code is indicated by the boundary shown with a red-and-black dotted line.)

All postal customers affected by these changes are being notified by mail. If a customer does not receive written notification in the next week, they are not affected by these changes.

The changes come as a result of the overall growth in mail deliveries that has accompanied population growth in the Flagstaff area.

Customers at addresses affected should begin using their new ZIP Code and notifying family, friends, business customers and business associates, as well. Individuals should include their new ZIP Code on any reply mail where the sender requests updated or corrected address information. Affected customers should also use their new ZIP Code when reordering stationery such as letterhead, envelopes, promotional literature, forms, and business cards.

Large mailers such as magazine publishers, financial institutions, insurance companies and utilities typically use computerized customer mailing lists, which update address ZIP Codes on a regular basis. No action on customers’ part is typically necessary to inform such companies about their new ZIP Code.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation: 152 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. With more than 31,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, usps.com, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $65 billion and delivers nearly 40 percent of the world's mail. If it were a private-sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 42nd in the 2012 Fortune 500. The Postal Service has been named the Most Trusted Government Agency for seven years and the fourth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute.
