WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is issuing a special pictorial postmark to help the City of West Hollywood proclaim August 26, 2013, as “Helen Reddy Day” in recognition of the singer’s contributions to women’s equality. The date coincides with the 93rd Anniversary of the 19th Amendment being incorporated into the U.S. Constitution, giving women the right to vote.
West Hollywood Mayor Abbe Land, Helen Reddy and celebrity artist Nicolosi, who designed the pictorial postmark, will provide a sneak peek of it at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 19, at a press conference in West Hollywood City Hall Lobby, 8300 Santa Monica Blvd., when the City officially proclaims August 26 as Helen Reddy Day in West Hollywood.
On Monday, August 26, 2013, the City of West Hollywood hosts the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the West Hollywood’s Women’s Advisory Board at 6:00 p.m. in City Council Chambers & Auto Court, 625 N. San Vicente Blvd. The event features Helen Reddy as key note speaker. Reddy will perform her iconic song “I am Woman” and unveil an enlargement of the special pictorial postmark on a commemorative cachet envelope designed by Nicolosi. Afterwards, Reddy and Nicolosi will both sign the enlargement and be available for autographs.
The August 26 Helen Reddy Day special pictorial postmark is available by mail for 30 days from the date of issue. It will be applied free of charge to any item that can be ink-stamped and has applicable First-Class postage affixed. Place item to be postmarked, with stamps affixed, into a cover envelope and mail to address below. Be sure to include any special instructions and your return address.
