WINTERS, CA — On Thursday, July 23, 2015, Trameca Johnson will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.

Johnson will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Winters Postmaster at an 11:00 a.m. ceremony at the Winters Post Office, 510 Railroad Avenue, Winters, CA 95694. Post Office Operations Manager Cheri Smith will administer the official oath of office.

Johnson began her U.S. Postal Service career in 1994 as casual clerk in Pittsburg, CA. In 2004, she began her management career supervising carriers and clerks in Vallejo, CA.

“When I was hired, I knew I wanted to do more in our organization,” Johnson said. “I had dreams of one day becoming a postmaster, and now it’s becoming true. I can scratch this off of my list of goals. It feels amazing to represent the Postal Service in this way.”

Johnson enjoys spending time with her family and shopping. She is married to her husband of nine years, Stacy. Johnson has two children, Shanai’jah, 16, and Devion, 7. She majored in criminal justice at Heald College and is the founder of a non-profit youth basketball organization, Impact Hoops, in Woodland, CA.

As Winters Postmaster, Johnson oversees 3,653 city and rural daily mail deliveries and 1,279 pieces of mail delivered to Post Office boxes.
