Building Safety Issues Force Topaz Post Office to Temporarily Relocate

TOPAZ, CA — Operations at the Topaz Post Office will be temporarily suspended due to structural concerns with the building.

Beginning May 27, 2016, all operations at the Topaz Post Office will be temporarily moved to the Coleville Post Office, located at 111747 Hwy 395 South, Coleville, CA, 96107, which is approximately 3.5 miles away.

The Coleville Post Office has empty Post Office boxes that are currently being modified and will be ready later in the month.  All Topaz boxholders will receive new keys and will be able to retain their current address.

Coleville has 24-hour lobby access for customer convenience.  Window service hours at the Coleville Post Office are 8 am - 11 am and 11:30 am - 2:30 pm , Monday through Friday and 9:30 am - 11:30 am on Saturday.

Contract route customers in the area will continue to receive mail delivery as usual.

“The safety of our employees and customers is paramount,” said Post Office Operations Manager Suzanne Phillips. “So we have temporarily suspended operations at this location. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our customers.”

Topaz is a leased facility.

A community meeting will be held in the coming weeks to explain plans and solicit comments concerning possible alternate means of providing postal and other services. Customers may also order Stamps by Mail, Stamps by Phone, 1-800-STAMP-24, or online at usps.com, where customers can also ship packages, request a Free Package Pickup — all from the comfort of home.The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations
