SAN LORENZO, CA — On Friday, November 4, 2016, at 10:00 AM, Davinder Mann will follow a tradition that dates back to 1854 when Albert E. Crane was the first Postmaster of San Lorenzo. Mann will raise her right hand to be sworn in as the new San Lorenzo Post Office, 15808 Hesperian Blvd., San Lorenzo, CA 94580.

The San Lorenzo Post Office has seen many changes in its 162 year history, mainly in the many locations it was housed, a hotel, a grocery store and a barbershop.

Mann started her postal career as a city letter carrier in Newark in 1990. After serving as a supervisor in an acting capacity, she enrolled in the Associate Supervisor Program (ASP) and graduated in 2006. Her first assignment was at the Fremont Post Office as a supervisor. Later that year she was promoted to a higher level supervisor at the Danville Post Office. To prepare herself to eventually become a Postmaster, she served as the Officer-in-Charge at the Danville Post Office prior to her selection as the San Lorenzo Postmaster.

“Being a Postmaster is a great honor for me,” said Mann. “It comes with great responsibility and it means so much to be involved in a position that has such great tradition in our country’s history. I am filled with immense pride, knowing that I am entrusted to serve my community, customers and my employees.”

Mann, 52, enjoys reading, music and traveling. She and her husband, Harmesh, have two children, Sean, 30, and Kevin, 26. They reside in Dublin. Mann graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education from Montgomery College, Jalandhar, India.

As Postmaster, Mann manages all postal operations for the community of San Lorenzo and has 1,000 PO Boxes.  She manages three employees and the office processes and delivers an average of 6,828 pieces of mail daily.

Sunil Chanan, Manager of Post Office Operations, will administer the official oath of office.
