LONG BEACH, CA — The Bixby Station Post Office, formerly located at 4580 Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach, will be opening in its new location at 4470 Atlantic Avenue on Dec. 12, 2016, just in time for local residents’ holiday mailing and shipping needs.

Retail hours will be Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Bixby Station lost its lease at its former location last February and the Postal Service proceeded through a public input process to select a new location. A public meeting was held on Feb. 25, 2015, and written comments were accepted through March 25, 2015.

This public input process for a Post Office relocation followed Title 39 Code of Federal Regulations 241.4 and assured increased opportunities for local officials and the public to express their views and have them considered prior to a final decision.

During the emergency suspension of retail service at Bixby Station while a new location was being determined and established, Post Office Box service for customers was temporarily relocated to North Long Beach Station, 101 E. Market Street. Post Office Box service will move to Bixby Stations’ new location on Dec. 12. Post Office Box numbers and ZIP Codes did not change for Bixby Station customers during any of these moves.

USPS does not receive tax dollars for its operations or facilities, but covers costs solely through the revenue received from the sale of its products and services.
