COVELO, CA — On Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 1:00 PM Darla Ahearn will follow a tradition that dates back to 1870 when the first Post Office was established. Ahearn will raise her right hand to be sworn in as the new Covelo Postmaster at 23925 Howard St., Covelo, CA 95428, in the community room connected to the library across the street from the Post Office.

Ahearn, 37, says it’s all about family first, spending time with her husband and three children. As a family, they enjoy the outdoors, hiking and panning for gold. The Ahearn’s have three children, Gavin, 18, Gabe, 14, and Sophia, 5. They reside in Brooktrails, CA.

As Postmaster, Ahearn manages all postal operations for the community of Covelo that has one rural and one highway contract route, 414 delivery stops (residential business addresses) and 817 PO Boxes.  She manages four employees and the office processes and delivers an average of 4,300 pieces of mail daily.
