MONTAGUE, CA — On Friday, March 3, 2017 Jana Lovitt will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.

Lovitt will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Montague Postmaster at a 10:00 a.m. ceremony at the Montague Post Office, 115 S. 11th Street, Montague, CA, 96064. Post Office Operations Manager Brenda Pope will administer the official oath of office.

Lovitt began her U.S. Postal Service career in 1999 as a temporary clerk in Montague. In 2011, she began her management career supervising carriers and clerks.

“I am extremely proud to be chosen as the new postmaster for Montague,” Lovitt said. “I will strive to continue to provide the excellent customer service that Montague is known for and to be a leader and advocate for our community.”

Lovitt enjoys horseback riding, traveling, basketball and working on the family ranch with her husband and children. She is married to Jim Lovitt. They have two daughters, Jenna, 26 and Jaime, 24. Lovitt has four grandchildren with one more on the way in June.

As Montague Postmaster, Lovitt oversees 2,169 rural and highway contract daily mail deliveries and on average 2,186 pieces of mail delivered to 665 Post Office boxes. Lovitt also manages seven employees.
