Postal Service holds pre-career hiring workshop in San Jose

Tips provided on exam preparation and how to use online application

SAN JOSE, CA — Looking for a new career? Like to work outside, fix things or keep facilities spotless? The Bay-Valley postal district has a place for you. And to make the whole process easier for applicants, a workshop will be held where information on job requirements and how to navigate the www.usps.com/careers online application process.

The workshop will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the San Jose Processing & Distribution Center, 1750 Lundy Ave., San Jose, CA 95101.

The Bay-Valley postal district has immediate openings for City Carrier Assistants (CCA), Custodians, Maintenance Mechanics and Auto Technicians. A newly hired CCA will be on hand to describe the work conditions and requirements of delivering the mail. Postal managers and human resources personnel will expand on the rewards and opportunities of a future career path within the Postal Service.

Applicants must be 18 years of age, or 16 years of age with a high school diploma. All applicants must be able to pass drug screening and a criminal background investigation. Some positions require an exam. Any position that has a driving requirement will also require a valid driver license and clean DMV 2-year driving history. Citizenship or permanent resident status is required.
