Background: |
Media will tour the Postal Service facility to view holiday mail processing. The Postal Service expects to deliver a total of approximately 15 billion total pieces of mail, including greeting cards and packages during the 2017 holiday season. Projections are that approximately 850 million packages will be delivered between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve, which is an increase of 10 percent over last year’s volume. More than six million packages are expected to be delivered each Sunday in December. Mail carriers will also deliver packages on Christmas Day in select locations.
