DULUTH, GA – In an effort to help customers mail gifts and greetings for the holidays, postal officials will extend window service hours at selected Post Offices, stations and branches.  The extra hours will be effective on Saturday and Sunday from Dec. 5 through Dec. 20.

These offices will be open for full window service. All the offices will open at their normal times on Saturday morning, but will remain open until 4 p.m.  “Normally, no offices are open on Sunday,” said Atlanta District Manager Scott Raymond, “but every weekend in December, prior to Christmas; selected main Post Offices in our larger cities will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  This effort will help our customers with their holiday shipping needs and will help us provide better service as well.”

Extended holiday hours provide a good opportunity for customers to avoid the peak holiday retail days of Monday, Dec. 14 and Dec. 21, Raymond added. “This will reduce your time in our busy lobbies.”

Customers should check places they normally receive packages, Raymond advises. “During the holiday season, package delivery times could be as early as 6:30 a.m. and as late as 8 p.m.,” he said.

Raymond would also like to remind customers about the many services available at www.usps.com. “You can buy stamps, schedule a package pick-up, place a vacation hold, and order free Priority Flat Rate boxes, which will be delivered right to your door,” he said.
