DOLLIVER, IA — Due to several safety concerns caused from disrepair, the U.S. Postal Service has made the decision to emergency suspend the Dolliver Post Office effective November 19, 2018.
Dolliver is a leased facility and the landlord has not complied with requests to address concerns.
In the interim, Temporary Cluster Box Units (CBUs) for Post Office Box delivery will be provided at 5078 Main Street beside the Dolliver Post Office. Customers may retrieve their CBU keys from the Dolliver Post Office until Monday, November 19th. After this timeframe, all remaining CBU keys will be available at the Ringsted Post Office located at 102 W Maple Street, Ringsted, IA.
Retail operations have also been relocated to the Ringsted Post Office which is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. as well as Saturday from 7:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
Customers currently receiving street delivery will be able to retrieve hold mail and notice left items at the Ringsted Post Office with photo ID.
Additional retail services are available at the Armstrong Post Office located at 608 1st Avenue, Armstrong, IA during the hours of Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
A community meeting will be held in the coming weeks to discuss options for potential alternate quarters.
The Postal Service will do everything possible to continue providing uninterrupted service to the community while emphasizing the safety of our employees and customers as our first priority. At this time, it is unknown when services will resume in Dolliver.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
