Innovation has made mail more interactive and effective for postal customers. It can include:

  • Every Door Direct Mail — an online service that allows business mailers to reach customers by neighborhood, city or ZIP Code.

“We have customers who have successfully used Every Door Direct Mail to locate lost pets!” –  Corbin, KY Postmaster Jeff McWilliams.

  • QR codes — a 2-D barcode can be scanned with a smart-phone and provide quick access to websites and other online media.
  • Direct mail and technology — together, they both work harder to connect mailers to digitally savvy customers
  • Augmented reality — turns information into a virtual experience and lets a customer interact with the information.

Customer appreciation events are designed to express gratitude for the business which customers give to the Postal Service. We offer ideas to increase convenience, reduce mailing costs and interface with customers using technology and the mail.

“My customers love it when I save them money or make suggestions on how to grow their business,” said Bardstown, KY Postmaster Cindy Beasley. “Who would have ever thought in the age of the Internet that something as simple and inexpensive as a postcard can generate thousands of dollars in new sales for small businesses?”

“Many of our customers are unaware there’s instant savings when they use our online Click-N-Ship to mail a package,” said Jeffersonville, IN Postmaster Marie Byrne. “Besides a discount, they can save a trip to their Post Office by leaving the package to be picked up by their letter carrier. It’s not only convenient, but there’s savings in both fuel and time.”

The Kentuckiana District serves ZIP Codes 400-409, 411-427 in Kentucky and 471, 476-477 in Southern Indiana.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
