DOE RUN, MO — Tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 22, the U.S. Postal Service will open Missouri’s first Village Post Office (VPO) at Sherry’s Quick Mart, 3229 Highway 221. Retail hours at the Doe Run Village Post Office are 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

The Doe Run Village Post Office is a partner with the U. S. Postal Service, providing booklets of Forever Stamps for sale at the Postal Service price and Flat Rate Priority Boxes for shipping needs. An exterior blue Postal Service collection box is located at the Doe Run VPO.

In addition, Post Office Boxes will be located at the Doe Run VPO. The Park Hills retail window clerk will provide delivery service to P.O. Boxes by 2 p.m. Mon. through Sat..

Hours of operation at the Park Hills Post Office are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays.

The Doe Run Village Post Office does no weighing or rating of packages but will accept pre-paid packages for free carrier pick-up.

Village Post Offices are a new concept for the Postal Service and will be considered in communities which have no post office or lose their Post Office. VPOs will be located in non-Postal Service establishments – such as an existing community business, town hall or government center. The VPO will provide a range of services that include the sale of First-Class postage stamps, offering Priority Mail products, and accepting mail.
