Greensboro managers honored with highest postal awards

GREENSBORO For the U.S. Postal Service – Greensboro District, Gary Eubanks, Acting Manager, Operations Programs Support, and H. Terry Mayers, Manager, In-Plant Support at the Greensboro Processing and Distribution Center, each were recently awarded the Capital Metro Area Vice President Award at a leadership meeting with the top postal managers in the region. It is the highest level of recognition in the region and is reserved to the management team members who, according to Capital Metro Area Vice President David Fields, “have demonstrated a continuous commitment to excellence.”

Eubanks, a Greensboro resident and veteran of 32 years of service, was recognized for leading the Greensboro District to a top regional ranking in Electronic Uncoded Address Resolution Service (e-UARS), Post Office Box and Distribution Scanning, Delivery Confirmation Scanning, and Last Mile Failure percentage. He also initiated the City Delivery Inspection Management System Report and achieved first place nationally for route management. His rural route realignment process saved the district more than $1 million. “You have earned the respect of your peers and the employees during your tenure,” wrote Fields. “Your leadership skills have allowed the Capital Metro Area to be more successful in Fiscal Year 2012.”

Mayers, also a Greensboro resident and a veteran of 34 years of government service, was recognized for leading the team that developed and successfully implemented the Area Mail Processing plan for transition of the Hickory processing plant into the Greensboro P&DC. “You are known as a tireless worker and a respected leader,” wrote Fields. “You have demonstrated the true ideals of a ‘Team Player’ through your unrelenting dedication and hard work.”

Greensboro District, which covers the northern 50+ counties of North Carolina, is historically one of the top performing postal districts in the nation every year. In Fiscal Year 2012, which ended September 30, it was ranked eighth nationally out of 67 districts in on-time, overnight delivery, the seventh consecutive year finishing in the top ten.
