FAYETTEVILLE, NC — The Postal Service’s Fayetteville Processing and Distribution Center has resumed operations following flooding caused by Hurricane Matthew.

“Thanks to the hard work of our employees, we were able to reopen and transition mail processing operations back to our Fayetteville facility,” said Sandy Wyrick, District Manager for the Postal Service’s Mid-Carolinas District.  “We are grateful for the community’s support and understanding during this difficult recovery period.”

The processing center closed temporarily on Oct. 8 due to flooding, and the Postal Service successfully shifted mail processing to alternate sites, including facilities in Fayetteville and Charlotte.

Post Offices in Fair Bluff, Ivanhoe and Seven Springs remain closed, but mail deliveries are being made to customers from nearby Post Offices and retail services are being provided by mobile postal units.

Customers in areas impacted by flooding with questions about mail delivery and retail services can call 1-910-423-2309 or 1-910-423-4065. Additional information is at USPS Service Alerts.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
