CHARLOTTE — Stamp collectors and enthusiasts will gather in Charlotte for a two-day event showcasing stamps and other philatelic products for the Charpex Annual Stamp and Postcard Show. It’s open to the public and admission and parking are free.

The event will be held at Central Piedmont Community College on Saturday, July 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On July 29, the Postal Service will offer stamps for sale and provide stamp cancellations of the recently issued Total Eclipse of the Sun stamp. The first-of-its-kind Forever stamp uses thermochromic ink to transform the image of an eclipse into an image of the moon when you press your finger on it.

The special eclipse postmark can be ordered by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to Postmaster, Charlotte Station, 2901 Scott Futrell, Charlotte, NC 28228-9997. Mail order requests for the postmark will be honored for 30 days following the event.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
