WILMINGTON, NC — The U.S. Postal Service will offer Pets Forever Stamps for sale and a special pictorial postmark cancellation, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Oct. 14, during the Hanover Kennel Club’s annual all-breed dog show at Legion Stadium.

“The Postal Service offers pictorial cancellations to commemorate local events celebrated in communities throughout the nation,” said Wilmington Postmaster Chris Spann. “We are excited to be part of this event in our community and offer these stamps to pet owners and stamp enthusiasts.”

Customers who cannot attend the event, but who wish to obtain the cancellation, may submit a mail order request by either:

  • Affixing stamps to any envelope or postcard of their choice, address the envelope or postcard to themselves or others, insert a card of postcard thickness in envelopes for sturdiness, and tuck in the flap. Then place the envelope or postcard in a larger envelope.
  • Sending stamped envelopes and postcards without addresses for cancellation, as long as they supply a larger envelope with adequate postage and their return address. After applying the pictorial cancellation, the Postal Service returns the items (with or without addresses).

Address it to: PICTORIAL CANCELLATIONS, 152 N. Front Street, Suite 204, Wilmington, NC 28401. Pictorial cancellations are available only for the dates indicated, and requests must be postmarked no later than 30 days following the requested pictorial cancellation date.

Pets are being issued as Forever stamps. Forever stamps are always equal in value to the current First-Class Mail® one-ounce price. Customers can share the news using #PetsStamps.

The dog show is open to the public and admission is free.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
