CHARLOTTE The Carolina Postal Forum, culminating a yearlong celebration of the Greater Charlotte PCC (GCPCC) as national PCC of the Year – 2017, takes place on Friday, Oct. 19 at Elevation – University City, 8105 IMB Drive in Charlotte.

The event will also include presentations, workshops and vendor exhibits by some of the mailing industry’s most knowledgeable experts, including a keynote presentation by a special guest speaker. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and the keynote is expected at 8:30 a.m.

“We look forward to a great event with our mailing partners,” said Charlotte Postmaster and GCPCC Co-Chair Justin Henderson. “This event will give us the opportunity to learn more about the latest industry innovations and celebrate how far mailing has come in recent years.”

The GCPCC was recognized recently for PCC Education Program Excellence (Silver Award), PCC Innovation of the Year (Bronze Award) and PCC Partner of the Year. Individual awards were given to Glen Swyers, PCC Industry Member of the Year (Gold Award) and Postal Service Mid-Carolinas District Communications Coordinator Lynn Taylor, PCC Postal Member of the Year (Gold Award).

PCC awards recognize those who, over the course of the recognition period, have conducted numerous educational and networking events and have documented quantifiable achievements resulting in members’ support and satisfaction, or who have undertaken innovative measures to forge stronger partnerships between local mailers and the Postal Service.

The Carolina Postal Forum usually takes place during national PCC Week in September, but the event was rescheduled due to Hurricane Florence. It involves members from the Greater Charlotte PCC, Greater Triad PCC, Greater Triangle PCC and the Upstate PCC of Greater South Carolina. PCCs are groups of mailing industry leaders and postal leaders who meet regularly to network and exchange mutually beneficial ideas. There are more than 150 local PCC chapters throughout the nation. According to industry studies, the U.S. mailing industry employs more than seven million people and represents more than $1.3 trillion in sales revenue.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
