OMAHA, NE – For customer convenience, three Omaha area Post Offices will open retail windows on Sundays for the holidays.

The following Omaha area postal locations will have Sunday retail hours on Dec. 4, Dec. 11, and Dec.18:

  • Omaha Main Post Office, 1124 Pacific St. – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Postal Impressions, 5436 S. 136th St. – 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Elkhorn Post Office, 20284 Wirt St. – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Adding Sunday retail hours will help our customers get their packages in the mail at a time that is convenient for them,” said Omaha Postmaster Keith Reid.

While three Omaha area Post Offices are adding Sunday retail hours for the holidays, Reid reminds postal customers they likely already have a 24/7 Post Office inside their home or business. He encourages customers to skip the trip to the Post Office and ship their packages from the comfort of home at usps.com.

“It’s as easy as making an online purchase, and you can do it at midnight in your pajamas, if you’d like,” said Reid. “Free Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes and Free Package Pickup make online shipping a snap. There is no surcharge for residential deliveries, we offer free delivery on Saturday, and The U.S. Postal Service has the nation’s largest delivery network.”

Other postal locations in Nebraska with Sunday retail hours on Dec. 4, Dec. 11, and Dec. 18 are:

  • Fremont Post Office, 348 E. 6th St. – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Kearney Post Office, 2401 E Ave. – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Lincoln Post Office, 700 R St. -- 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Norfolk Post Office, 1100 S. Pine Industrial Rd. – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Postal Service expects to deliver approximately 16 billion cards, letters and packages this holiday season, including 750 million packages – a 12 percent increase compared to 2015. A similar increase is expected in Nebraska.

Holiday cards and packages destined for military addresses in Iraq/Afghanistan/Middle East should be in the mail no later than Dec. 2 – all other military addresses Dec. 9. To help the families and friends of U.S. military personnel, the USPS offers a $2 discount on its largest Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes.

For international destinations, mail-by dates range from Dec. 1 to Dec. 10 depending on the destination, with Global Express Guaranteed service available from Dec. 19 to Dec. 22, depending on the destination.

Suggested mail-by dates for cards and packages destined for U.S. addresses are: Dec. 15 for Standard Post; Dec. 20 for First-Class Mail, Dec. 21 for Priority Mail, and Dec. 23 for Priority Mail Express.
