MANCHESTER, NH — On Tuesday, we celebrate Veterans Day, a celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, willingness to serve and to honor their sacrifices for the common good. For more than two centuries, the Postal Service has echoed that tribute both in the issuance of its stamps and by being one of the nation’s largest employers of veterans.
Today we employ more than 98,000 military veterans, that means nearly 3 out of every 10 Postal workers are military veterans. We also offer military- themed stamps and collectables to honor those that served. Here are a few that are currently available at usps.com.
Purple Heart 2014 Forever Stamps The U.S. Postal Service continues to honor the sacrifices of the men and women who serve in the U.S. military with the issuance of the Purple Heart Medal stamp that depicts the medal suspended from its purple and white ribbon.
