Local postal operations continue to recover after the temporary suspensions of delivery and retail services around the region in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Postal officials note that Social Security checks (SSI) due for delivery on November 1st will be delivered in those locations where mail services will be restored and safe access to the mailbox is assured.

Officials note that some ZIP Codes in Northern New Jersey will require a customer pickup of the SSI check at an alternate postal location, if home delivery can not be made.  Those offices include:

In all locations, no checks will be released without proper identification.  This includes photo identification and identification bearing the address exactly as it appears on the check.    One form of ID meeting both requirements, such as a current driver’s license, is sufficient.
