WHEELER, OR — The Wheeler Post Office will welcome postal customers back for the first time since December by hosting a Customer Appreciation Day event from 9 to 11 a.m. when the facility reopens on Friday, July 29.

The Wheeler Post Office, 500 Nehalem Blvd., has been closed since December 2015 while work was completed to repair flood-related damage to the facility. The leased facility will open its doors to customers at 9 a.m. Friday.

For Friday’s Customer Appreciation Day event, light refreshments will be served.

Nehalem Postmaster Jerry Croak said Wheeler postal employees look forward to once again serving Wheeler customers at their local Post Office. “We appreciate our customers’ patience while the Post Office was closed for repairs,” Croak said. “We’re anxious and excited to welcome everyone in Wheeler back to celebrate our reopening.”

The Wheeler Post Office’s regular weekday retail hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The P.O. Box lobby is accessible 24 hours a day.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
