U.S. Postal Service Delivery and Retail Operations May be Impacted Today

Colorado — In the aftermath of the “Bomb Cyclone” mail will continue to be delivered to all accessible areas that do not impede the safety of our employees. Retail and delivery operations may be impacted due to road closures and blizzard conditions.

Most retail operations are open but may be impacted by network connectivity issues, power outages and closed roads. Attached is a list of Post Offices closed today.

Heavy snow has delayed mail transportation inbound to processing facilities and to some Post Offices. Local conditions have made many streets and country roads impassable and mail delivery may be delayed today.

Carriers will attempt delivery where possible. But service may be late and sporadic today because of closed roads and difficult conditions.

The Postal Service reminds customers to always clear and maintain a safe, accessible path to your mailbox as soon as possible after it snows, including clearing snow and ice from approaches to street and rural mailboxes so carriers can maneuver their vehicles in and out more efficiently and safely.

Carriers will continue to do their best to deliver the mail, but unsafe conditions such as large amounts of snow blocking mailboxes can delay or even prevent mail delivery. If access is not safe, carriers must consider safety first. Carriers are instructed to refrain from delivering to locations they deem too hazardous.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
