Stamp Announcement 09-12: Forever Stamp

Forever stamp.

On February 24, 2009, in Washington, DC, the Postal Service™ will re-issue the non-denominated First-Class Mail® definitive Forever Stamp (Liberty Bell) in one design in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) ATM sheetlet of 18 (Item 573300). The stamp, designed by Carl T. Herrman, Carlsbad, California, goes on sale nationwide February 24, 2009.

The stamp was previously issued in the following formats:

n 2007 — PSA double-sided booklet of 20 (Item 676600).

n 2007 — PSA vending booklet of 20 (Item 676500).

n 2007 — PSA ATM sheetlet of 18 (Item 569900).

n 2008 — PSA double-sided booklet of 20 (Item 677700).

n 2008 — PSA folded vending booklet of 20 (Item 679200).

How to Order the First Day of Issue Postmark

Customers have 60 days to obtain the first day of issue postmark by mail. They may purchase new stamps at their local Post Office™, at the Postal Store® website at www.usps.com/shop, or by calling 800-STAMP-24. They should affix the stamps to envelopes of their choice,

After applying the first day of issue postmark, the Postal Service will return the envelopes through the mail. There is no charge for the postmark. All orders must be postmarked by April 27, 2009.

Stamp Fulfillment Services also offers first day covers for new stamp issues and Postal Service stationery items postmarked with the official first day of issue cancellation. Philatelic Products

There is one philatelic product available for this stamp issue:

Items with an asterisk (*) will use the 128 barcode from Stamp Fulfillment Services. All other philatelic products will continue to use barcode series A, with the exception of the Yearbook and the Guide Book.

Distribution: Item 573300, Non-denominated ($7.56 Value) Forever Stamp, PSA ATM Sheetlet of 18 (for Automated Postal Center and Automated Teller Machine Use Only)

Stamp distribution offices (SDOs) will receive automatic distributions of the Forever Stamp, ATM sheetlets of 18. Distributions are rounded up to the nearest master carton size (12,000 sheetlets).

Initial Supply to Post Offices

SDOs will not make a subsequent automatic distribution to Post Offices. Only Post Offices equipped with Auto­mated Postal Centers® (APCs®) or Post Offices serving authorized automatic teller machine customers may order Item 573300 from their designated SDO using a separate PS Form 17, Stamp Requisition/Stamp Return. SDOs must not distribute sheetlets to Post Offices before February 17, 2009. SDOs should continue to issue their current inven­tory of the Forever Stamp ATM sheetlet before shipping the re-issued stamp.

Additional Supply

Authorized Post Offices requiring additional sheetlets for restocking of APCs and for re-supply of authorized automatic teller machine customers must requisition Item 573300 from their designated SDO using PS Form 17. SDOs requiring additional sheetlets must order them from the appropriate accountable paper depository (APD) using PS Form 17.

For fulfilling supplemental orders from SDOs, APDs will receive additional quantities of Item 573300. For fulfilling supplemental orders from APDs, the Kansas City NSD/SSC will also receive additional quantities of Item 573300.
