Centralized Claims Process — Date Change

The launch date for the centralization of claims has been postponed from March 2. See “Claim Process Improve­ments” in Postal Bulletin 22251 (1-29-09, pages 31–35) for more details on the changes. The centralization of all claims includes the following:

n Expansion of online claims to include all claims for domestic insurance.

n Revision of PS Form 1000, Domestic or International Claim, obsoleting PS Form 2855.

n Direct filing of domestic claims by mail for customers.

n Adjudication of claims centralized in St. Louis (elimi­nation of AIC 539).

n Modification of the damaged goods policy for domestic claims.

n Increased salvage value from $10 to $25 for both domestic and international items.
