Stamp Announcement 10-17: Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp

On June 25, 2010, at the Bass Pro Shops, Hanover, Maryland, the U.S. Department of the Interior will issue the $15 Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation stamp for the 2010–2011 waterfowl hunting season. The stamp goes on sale nationwide June 25, 2010, and is valid through June 30, 2011.

The Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation stamp will be available in the following formats:

n Water-activated gum (WAG) pane of 20 (Item 334200).

n Pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of 1 (Item 334300).

n 334384*, Migratory Bird Uncut Press Sheet (PSA), $500.00.

n 541062*, Migratory Bird Silk Cachet, $25.00.

n 541092*, Migratory Bird Artist Commemorative Card, $50.00.

Items with an asterisk (*) will use the 128 barcode from Stamp Fulfillment Services. All other philatelic products will continue to use barcode series A, with the exception of the Yearbook and the Guide Book.

Stamp Distribution Offices (SDOs) and Stamp Distribu­tion Centers (SDCs). SDOs and SDCs will not receive an automatic distribution of Item 334200 for subsequent dis­tribution to Post Office™ facilities.

The Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation stamp, produced in the WAG format, will only be automatically dis­tributed to Stamp Fulfillment Services (SFS) in Kansas City, Missouri, and by consignment via Amplex Corporation.

Stamp Distribution Offices and Stamp Distribution Cen­ters. SDOs and SDCs will only receive an automatic distri­bution of Item 334300. Automatic distributions to SDOs and SDCs began May 1, 2010, and will be complete by May 30, 2010. There will not be an automatic distribution of this stamp to Post Offices. SDOs/SDCs must not distribute the Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation stamps to Post Offices before June 11, 2010.

Post Offices. To allow postmasters to order the 2010–2011 Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation stamps in quantities approximating customer demand, there is no minimum ordering quantity. Postmasters should review their previous year’s sales records to determine the appro­priate number of the 2010–2011 Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation stamps to requisition.

Postmasters should requisition sufficient quantities of Item 334300 to meet the expected demand for this item by stamp collectors, conservationists, and hunters.

Postmasters must immediately send a separate PS Form 17, Stamp Requisition/Stamp Return, to their SDOs/SDCs for enough Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation stamps to last until April 30, 2011. All postmasters/station managers must ensure that Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation stamps are available to meet public demand.
