DMM Revision: Collect on Delivery Service

Effective February 7, 2011, the Postal Service™ will revise Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Ser­vice, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM^®) 503 to clarify stan­dards that apply to disputes regarding Collect on Delivery (COD) services once payment is returned to the mailer.

Specifically, the Postal Service cannot intervene in dis­putes between mailers and recipients of COD mail after postal records indicate payment was returned to the mailer.

11.2.1 Description

[Revise the introductory paragraph by adding a new sixth sentence as follows:]

***The Postal Service cannot intervene in disputes between mailers and recipients of COD mail after postal records indicate payment was returned to the mailer.***
