Stamp Announcement 12-11: Sailboat Stamped Card

Stamp Announcement 12-11: Sailboat Stamped Card

On January 20, 2012, in Oyster Bay, New York, the Postal Service™ will issue a Sailboat stamped card (Forever® priced at 32 cents) in one design.

In 2012, the U.S. Postal Service® highlights America’s scenic beauty with a sailboat stamped card. The impressionistic scene was painted in oil. The sailboat, a one-masted sloop, rests with its sails furled while a single sailor stands on deck. Burton Silverman was the stamp artist.

The stamped card will go on sale nationwide
January 20, 2012.

The Sailboat stamped card will be available in the following formats:

n Single-cut cards (Item 224100).

n Double-reply cards (Item 224200).

n Sheet of 40 cards (Item 224300).

Distribution: Multiple Items, 32-cent (35-cent value) Sailboat Stamped Card

Stamp distribution offices (SDOs) and stamp distribution centers (SDCs) will receive their standard automatic distribution quantities of the stamped cards. Distributions are rounded up to the nearest master carton sizes:

n Item number 224100, single card, 5,000 cards.

n Item number 224200, double reply card, 2,000 cards.

n Item number 224300, sheet card, 250 sheets (of 40 cards).

Initial Supply to Post Offices

SDOs/SDCs will not make any automatic distribution to Post Offices™. Post Offices requiring quantities of Items 224100, 224200, or 224300 must requisition them from their designated SDO/SDC using PS Form 17, Stamp Requisition/Stamp Return. Post Offices may preorder from SDOs/SDCs through the Stamp Services System beginning 30 days prior to the first day of issue. For Post Offices that have placed orders, initial supplies to the Post Offices will be shipped as stamps are received at the SDCs from the stamp printers.

Sales Policy

All Post Offices should maintain a sufficient inventory level of these items until the cards are officially withdrawn from sale. If supplies run low, Post Offices must reorder additional quantities using their normal ordering procedures.
