In response to inquiries concerning the permitted uses of Standard Mail Marketing Parcels (“Marketing Parcels”), the Postal Service™ hereby clarifies the meaning of the language in DMM 243.3.2.2. Marketing Parcels were designed for the sending of samples or other prospecting materials and should not be used for “Fulfillment Purposes” (i.e. the sending of items purchased or specifically requested by the customer of a mailer). Alternative address formats must be used. A future Federal Register Notice will propose language changes to DMM 243.3.2.2 to further clarify the intended use of Marketing Parcels, consistent with this article.
