DMM Reminder: First-Class Package Service Maximum Dimensions

On January 17, 2016, the Postal Service™ revised the Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®), section 707.6, to recognize the maximum dimensions for First-Class Package Service® (FCPS) as stated in the Mail Classification Schedule.

When FCPS was instituted, the dimensions were a fundamental construct in establishing prices and service commitments. We’re finding from time to time that pieces may not meet the requirements and therefore cause a delay in processing and delivery.

The Postal Service provides a reminder that FCPS parcels must not exceed 22 inches in length or 18 inches in width or 15 inches in thickness.

Additional information can be found in Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®), section 201.8.3 and subchapter 280, and in Quick Service Guide (QSG) 280, First-Class Package Service Parcels, found on the Postal Explorer® website at http:⁄⁄pe.usps.com.
