Jacqueline M. Krage Strako

Jacqueline (Jakki) Krage Strako was named vice president, Area Operations, Great Lakes Area, in February, 2012. As the senior postal official in a 201,824 square-mile geographic territory that encompasses all of Michigan, and most of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and part of Missouri, she is responsible for managing ongoing postal programs and operations, overseeing the development and implementation of strategies to increase productivity and revenue, and identifying current and potential operational opportunities to develop long-range strategic initiatives.

Her responsibilities include oversight of annual operating revenue of $11.2 billion and a workforce of just over 69,000 that serves 36 million customers and 17.2 million addresses. She reports to the chief operating officer and executive vice president.

Prior to her current role, Krage Strako served as manager, Operations Support for the Great Lakes Area. In that capacity she oversaw distribution networks, in-plant support, maintenance support and delivery programs support, including 40 mail processing plants and more than 3,800 delivery and retail units. She began her postal career in 1989 as an Industrial Engineer at Postal Headquarters in Washington, D.C., eventually becoming an Industrial Engineer Field.  She has been a Budget/Financial Analyst at the district level in Illinois and an Area Quality Specialist.  Leveraging her operational and financial experience, she become the budget manager and then was promoted to the finance manager for the Great Lakes Area. She also helped establish the Postal Service’s internal control group while on an assignment to the chief financial officer.

Krage Strako has been the recipient of two Vice President Awards, a Chief Operating Officer Award and a Postmaster General Award.

Krage Strako is a graduate of the University of Iowa, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, and DePaul University, where she received her Masters of Business Administration with a specialty in Finance. She also completed executive certificate programs in financial management, strategy and organization at Stanford University. She also holds a Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt certification.
