How to apply

Here’s what you need to know and how to get started.

Assessments

Depending on the position you apply for, you may be required to take a non-proctored assessment, a proctored assessment, or both. If either is required, you will receive an email from the testing vendor with instructions on how to complete the assessment. Find detailed information below about each type of assessment you may need to take.

Non-proctored assessment

  • This type of assessment can be done on your own.
  • Follow the links within the informational email and complete your assessment directly on your phone, tablet or computer at a time and place of your choosing.
  • You are encouraged to complete the assessment in an environment free of noise and distractions.
  • You have a total of 3 days (72 hours) to complete the assessment once you have received your email initiation.
  • Be sure to start the assessment as soon as possible.
  • If you are unable to complete this in that time, you will be ineligible to receive consideration for that job. You may, however, apply to additional jobs in the future.
  • Your assessment results will be within your eCareer profile, within the “Roadmap” and “Assessments” page.
  • The result of your assessment will be either “eligible” or “ineligible”.
  • If you see that your results say “ineligible” that means that you did not receive a passing score. You may try again after this first attempt after one year. You may apply to other jobs that require a different assessment.

Proctored assessment

  • A proctored assessment is one that you must take at a specified test center where you must sign in and verify your identity.
  • Once you receive the email from the application system, choose an available date, time and location to complete the assessment.
  • Read the informational emails carefully. Some assessments require that you bring additional materials.
  • For admission to the test center, you will be required to present one official and valid piece of identification that meets the following requirements. Acceptable IDs issued by Federal or State Governments
    • Driver's License
    • U.S. State issued ID Card
    • U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card

  • All IDs must bear your photo
  • All IDs must be original and permanent
    • No photocopies or faxes
    • No temporary or paper renewals
  • All IDs must be current and legible
  • You must complete the assessment within the time period provided in the informational email.
  • If you do not complete the assessment within that time frame, you will be ineligible to be considered for the position.
  • Your assessment results will be within your eCareer profile, within the “Roadmap” and “Assessments” page.
  • The result of your assessment will be either “eligible” or “ineligible”.

Assessment tips

Canceling or rescheduling an assessment: For proctored assessments, may cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. To cancel or reschedule, log onto your online testing account and click “Appointment Date/Time” link.

Accommodations for disabilities: You may submit a request for accommodation when you sign up for the assessment. Information about the Postal Service’s reasonable accommodation process is available here.

Receiving an email: If you have applied and do not receive an email, then you have not been invited to take the assessment. Each job posting has a pre-determined number of applications who are invited to complete the assessment, and invitations are given on a “first-come, first-serve" basis. We encourage you to continue to monitor your email though, as you may still have an opportunity to complete the assessment in the future.

Technical support: If you experience any technical difficulties with your online testing account, you may submit a request to the technical support email address provided in the assessment email you received or contact techsupport@psionline.com.

Success!

Once you have completed the assessments, you have completed the application process. We wish you luck on landing an opportunity with USPS.
