Shop small for the holidays
By Jonathan Castillo
There are more than 32.5 million small businesses in the United States, and they employ more than 61.2 million Americans — almost half the U.S. workforce. Small businesses boost our economy, create jobs, spur innovation and bind communities together. The entrepreneurial spirit is part of the very fabric of the American Dream.
Small Business Saturday® after Black Friday is a great time to show your appreciation. Small businesses need our support more than ever as they navigate the lingering effects of the pandemic and the onset of record inflation. Let’s help them thrive by joining the thousands of organizations and millions of people who Shop Small® Nov. 26.
Small Business Saturday was founded in 2010 by American Express and co-sponsored by the Small Business Administration. Since its inception, it has become an integral part of small businesses’ busiest shopping season.
The U.S. Postal Service believes small businesses are the lifeblood of thriving communities. That is why we created programs and services such as USPS Connect™ Local, aimed at helping small businesses reach their local customers quickly and affordably.
You might not realize it, but every time you pick up a coffee from your neighborhood café or buy a gift from a local specialty store, you are playing a part in supporting your community.
