KNIGHTSEN, CA — Robert Byrne will follow a proud tradition dating back to 1900 when George Knight was appointed the first Knightsen City Postmaster. On Wednesday, February 13, 2013, 10:00 am, Byrne will raise his right hand to take the official oath of office at the Knightsen Post Office located at 3019 Knightsen Avenue Knightsen, CA 94548 The oath of office will be administered by Manager Post Office Operations Jack Boster.
Byrne began his postal career as a part-time-flexible distribution window clerk in 1998 in Oakland. He was selected to his first management position in 2005 as the Officer-in-Charge of the Pope Valley Post Office. In 2007, he was promoted as Postmaster Pope Valley, the position he held prior to being selected as the Knightsen Postmaster.
“As the Postmaster of Knightsen, I plan to become a trusted member of the community,” said Byrne. “I am dedicated to providing the highest level of service possible every day.”
Byrne, 60, resides in Rio Vista. He enjoys fishing, camping, hiking, kayaking and home improvement activities.
As Knightsen Postmaster, Byrne oversees two employees who process and deliver a daily mail volume of more than 1,500 pieces to 570 delivery points (addresses), and 188 Post Office boxes, six days a week.
