Dakota, IL — For the first and only time this century, Dakota’s Zip Code 61018 will match the date on Sunday, June 10, 2018. This occasion is known in U.S. Postal Service circles as “Date Meets Zip.” The Dakota Post Office, located at 139 W. Main St, is offering a special postmark to commemorate the event.

“We are honored to serve Dakota and be a proud member of this community,” said Dakota Postmaster Dennis Jansen.  “We welcome customers to stop by Monday, June 11th and join us in celebrating this unique event in our town.”

Residents and businesses are invited, on the 11th to bring their own postcards, letters or purchase an envelope from the Dakota Post Office and have it stamped with the commemorative postmark to mark the occasion.  The postmark will be available for 30 days after the event.
