U.S. Postal Service Announces Final Decision

On Potential Relocation of Retail Services at Lady Lake, Florida, Post Office

TAMPA, FL — Following a community meeting and careful review of all public feedback, as well as comments received after the public meeting, the Postal Service has made a final decision to relocate the Lady Lake, FL, Westside Finance Unit Post Office from its current location at 23 LaGrande Boulevard, Lady Lake, FL 32159-9998 to a yet-to-be-determined location. The move became necessary when the Postal Service’s lease expired and the landlord declined to extend its terms.

The Postal Service’s goal is to select a new location as close as possible to the current location.  Consideration will be given to sites that are convenient for customers and will meet postal operational needs.  The Postal Service anticipates providing the same services at the new location as are currently provided to customers at the existing location.  Additionally, the Postal Service plans to continue services at the existing Post Office until the replacement facility is open and operating as a Post Office.

While the Postal Service is sensitive to the impact of this decision on its customers and the Lady Lake, Florida, community, the Postal Service properly considered community input and this decision is consistent with Postal Service objectives. Postal Service operations are not supported by tax dollars.  To be self-sustaining, the Postal Service must make decisions that ensure it provides adequate and affordable postal services in a manner that is as efficient and economical as possible.

A final decision letter was mailed to The Honorable Jim Richards, Mayor of Lady Lake and is currently posted at the Lady Lake Post Office.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations
