Chicago Post Offices Closed September 2 in Observance of Labor Day Holiday

CHICAGO, IL — Chicago Post Offices will be closed on Monday, September 2, 2019 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. There will not be any mail delivery or retail service on September 2.  All services resume on Tuesday, September 3. Post Offices will be open regularly scheduled hours on Saturday, August 31.

Customers who wish to purchase stamps, mail packages, or ship urgent letters or packages on September 2 may use the Self Service Kiosks available at select post offices. The ATM-like kiosk accepts credit or debit cards only and can handle about 80 percent of typical postal transactions – like weigh packages and dispense postage for Priority Express, Priority, First-Class and Parcel Post mail.  Self Service Kiosks are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.   To obtain Chicago locations, go to usps.com then click on “Quick Tools” and select, “Find USPS Locations.”   Under “Location Types” pick “Self-Service Kiosks” and type in Chicago, Illinois or a zipcode and it will bring up those locations.

Whether customers are in town or travelling during a holiday weekend, Informed Delivery helps residential customers preview their incoming mail.  More than 18 million Informed Delivery users who opt-in to receive email notifications can now view their mail in their daily digest emails and also see tracking information about the expected delivery of their packages. Also, users are able to track package deliveries, leave delivery instructions and schedule redelivery from the online Informed Delivery dashboard.  More information is available at informeddelivery.usps.com.
