The United States Postal Service will host a behind-the-scenes tour of holiday operations at the Indianapolis P&DC.

The Postal Service is preparing for the holidays and is ready to meet the growing customer demand for package delivery. Last year’s holiday season was like no other for both USPS and its customers. Package delivery grew nearly 48 percent, driven by the surge in online shopping and ecommerce due to the COVID pandemic. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the Postal Service delivered a record 1.1 billion packages.

This is a unique opportunity to see how packages are processed. The tour will be led by postal officials. Holiday handout information will include tips about the best ways to ship cards, letters, and packages during the holidays.

As part of the Postmaster General’s 10-year plan to achieve financial sustainability and service excellence called Delivering For America, the Postal Service is investing $40 billion in people, technology and equipment to modernize its operations and provide a world class service to customers.

Media may park anywhere in the lots around the building. USPS representatives will meet you at the front doors.

Please be aware proper footwear is required. Shoes should be fully enclosed at the heel, toe, and sides and be made of leather or substantial synthetic material.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its.
