Children from Royal Oak’s St. Mary School drop off letters to Santa at Royal Oak Post Office

A great photo opportunity as Royal Oak’s St. Mary Catholic School children, more than 120 children, form a single line around the Royal Oak post office to drop their letters to Santa Claus.

Background:

Every child who drops a letter to Santa at the Royal Oak, MI Post Office will receive a hand written response from Santa’s elves (USPS employees).

Nearly 16 billion total pieces of mail and packages are expected to be processed and delivered this holiday season — Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day

We are delivering on Sundays too. More than 8 million packages are expected to be delivered each Sunday during the holiday season, beginning Nov. 25

Busiest mailing, shipping and delivery week for greeting cards & packages is Dec. 17 - 23 when we expect to handle more than 2 billion cards, letters and packages.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
