Postal collection boxes to be temporarily removed

Postal Service implements precautionary security measure

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia District of the United States Postal Service, working in conjunction with the Postal Inspection Service, will implement a temporary security measure to increase public safety. The collection boxes will be taken out of service today and returned to service on Thursday, January 21.

The Philadelphia collection being temporarily removed are located at:

  • 1398 Market Street
  • 1400 JFK Boulevard
  • 170 N Independence Mall W
  • 601 Market Street

The temporary removal of the collection boxes is a precautionary measure to protect postal property, employees, and the public.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
