Tropical storm threatens Gulf Coast

Tropical Storm Barry is expected to bring powerful winds and dangerous storm surges along the Gulf Coast. In Louisiana, the governor has issued a state of emergency and some areas are under mandatory evacuation, resulting in the closure of some Post Office locations.

Our top priority is the safety of our customers and employees as we continue to monitor conditions. Please check our service alerts for impacts to our operations.

USPS Service Alerts provide information to consumers, small businesses and business mailers about postal facility service disruptions due to weather-related and other natural disasters or events.

Visit www.ready.gov or www.listo.gov to prepare for hurricanes and severe weather.

Service disruptions

Residential customers and small businesses can learn if mail is being delivered, or if their Post Offices are open. Business mailers get more detailed information about USPS mail processing facilities, and the operating status of delivery units, as well as any impacts on mail delivery overseas.
