DMM Revision: Automation Compatibility Requirements for Enhanced Carrier Route Letter-Size Standard Mail

Effective March 3, 2008, we are revising 243.6.1.2 of the Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®) to clarify the basic standards that describe letter-size enhanced carrier route Standard Mail® items. In addition to the current basic eligibility standards, pieces prepared with a delivery address must comply with all of the standards for automation compatibility in 201.3 and must bear an 11–digit barcode. These requirements are included in the rate eligibility standards for each type of enhanced carrier route mail, but are not stated in the basic requirements.
