If the poster is displayed, it should be placed on the community bulletin board located in the Post Office™ box lobby and not in the main retail (full service) lobby. Alternatively, Missing Children posters can be maintained in a binder behind the counter to be used as a reference guide. The posters also may be posted in a prominent location where letter carriers will be able to see them before or after they go out on their routes. Making this information available to letter carriers is consistent with the NALC/USPS Child Alert Program to facilitate identification of missing children.

Companion posters, authorized for display on bulletin boards maintained by employee organizations, appear periodically in The Postal Record, a publication for members of the National Association of Letter Carriers.

This poster is published in cooperation with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the United States Department of Justice, and the National Association of Letter Carriers. Information appearing on this poster is selected solely by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

In addition to Postal Bulletin updates, NCMEC distributes information periodically. Notification of newly reported missing children is sent to designated district “Missing Children” coordinators via e–mail addresses provided by district managers. Within 24 hours of receipt of an e-mailed Missing Children poster, district coordinators should distribute copies to all Postal Service™ facilities in their districts.
