Effective May 12, 2008, Publication 91, Confirmation Services Technical Guide, is revised to change information regarding Auxiliary Service Facilities (ASFs) and to define bar code symbology.

Only one bar code symbology may be used to print bar coded labels for Confirmation Services. This is the Global Standards (GS) 1-128 Code.

GS1-128 replaces UCC/EAN 128 Code. Mailers must use GS1-128 to print Service Type Code 55 for Priority Mail Open and Distribute service.
