Acting Vice President, Area Operations — Eastern Area
Angela Curtis was named acting vice president, Area Operations for the Eastern Area in August 2019.
The role encompasses responsibility for postal operations including mail processing and distribution, customer service and administrative operations. Eastern Area encompasses a geographic area that includes Pennsylvania, Ohio, Tennessee, West Virginia, Delaware, Kentucky, Central and South Jersey, Western New York, and portions of Virginia and Indiana. The Eastern Area delivers mail to more than 50 million customers, employs over 85,000 people, and has an operating budget of over 7.5 billion dollars. Operationally, she will oversee 35 processing and distribution centers, four national distribution centers and over 6,600 retail and delivery units.
Curtis joined the Postal Service in 1993 and has extensive experience in mail processing operations as a Plant Manager and in customer service roles including Manager Post Office Operations and numerous Postmaster assignments. She has excelled in multiple performance measurement initiatives and is committed to developing future leaders for the organization. She is also a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Curtis holds a Master of Science in management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in business administration from Gardner Webb University and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Gardner Webb University. She is also a recipient of multiple vice president awards for excellence, a certified green belt, and certified as a Microsoft Project Manager.
