Backlog Reduction Goals for FY08, FY09,
and FY10 in furtherance of Executive Order 13,392, “Improving Agency Disclosure
of Information” The U.S. Postal Service
establishes the following goals with respect to the numbers of Freedom of
Information Act (FOIA) requests and administrative appeals to be processed for
the next three fiscal years as well as the number of requests and number of
appeals it expects to be pending beyond the statutory time period at the end of
each fiscal year for Fiscal Years 2008, 2009, and 2010. The Postal Service Law
Department, which handles administrative appeals for the Postal Service and the
Postal Inspection Service, reports no backlog of pending appeals for the
beginning of FY 2008. The Office of
Inspector General reports no backlog of pending FOIA requests or administrative
appeals for the beginning of FY 2008. Backlog Reduction Goals –

*This number represents requests
received in the Postal Service Records Office at Headquarters. It does not include pending requests sent to
and received by records custodians located in field or other Headquarters
offices. Requests received in field or
other Headquarters offices are reported to the Records Office for inclusion in
the FOIA/PA Tracking System at the time a request is completed.
