Relocation of Postal Retail Services

Final Decision regarding the Cadiz Post Office

CADIZ, OH — Following a community meeting and U.S. Postal Service review of all public feedback, the Postal Service has made a final decision to relocate retail services to an as yet undetermined long-term location as defined at the May 7, 2018, public meeting.

An in-depth USPS safety and health investigation of the former Cadiz Post Office building at 100 E South St, Cadiz, OH 43907, identified substantial deterioration in its structural integrity. In accordance with OSHA and USPS regulations and to safeguard the health and safety of customers and employees, the Postal Service suspended operations and transferred its retail services to a temporary modular unit at 732 Peppard Avenue, Cadiz, Ohio 43907.

The Postal Service is currently reviewing several potential locations for establishing a new long-term facility. If these locations prove inadequate or an agreement cannot be reached with a prospective landlord, the Postal Service will review additional locations as close as reasonably possible to the original facility.

The Postal Service anticipates providing the same services at the new location as provided to customers at the previous location. Additionally, the Postal Service plans to continue services at the current temporary facility until a new long-term facility is open and operational.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
