IMM Revision: Computing Postage for International Mailpieces

Effective January 18, 2009, the Postal Service™ is revising Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, International Mail Manual (IMM®) 152, 212, 222, and 235 to clarify the procedures for determining single-piece weights in retail and preso+rt mailings.

These revisions also provide procedures on computing online postage for Global Express Guaranteed® (GXG®), Express Mail International®, and Priority Mail International™ services.

For the most part, these standards mirror what we have in place in Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®) for determining single-piece weights and how customers compute online postage for Express Mail® service.

We will incorporate these revisions into the next printed version of the IMM and into the monthly update of the online IMM, which is available via Postal Explorer® at http://pe.usps.com.
